I'm headed to Maine for a couple of weeks. Don't think I've ever spent more than a few days at a time in Maine, as work and life in general have always kept my visits short. I haven't made it there in the last couple of years and now I'm going to spend the 4th of July holiday and then stay another week to have a funeral for my little brother who passed away in January. Still finding it hard to believe I don't have a little brother here on earth. I think of him every day.
I was looking through boxes of pictures, looking for pictures of my brother for his memorial and I came across several of Chase, our Great Dane. Always smiling at his 'bigness'. Little did I know that within 2 days of my coming across them, he, too, would pass away. Chase lived a very long life for a large Great Dane - he was 13 years old! Awesome to think how long he lived; how long we were blessed with him. He was an amazing dog, so sweet and well behaved and he loved us as much as we loved him. Chase, seriously, was the best dog ever.
Joining me on my trip to Maine, at the opposite end of the dog size spectrum, will be Sapphire at a womping 2 pounds 14 ounces......
Have a great 4th of July, a great summer!
